Reflections on Luke 21

From Alan Culpepper:

“Following Jesus always exposes the faithful to opposition from the authorities. If in every generation there are those whose religion is simply a form of escapism into the fantasy of futurism, every generation has also had its courageous visionaries who devoted themselves completely to Jesus’ call to create community, oppose injustice, work for peace, and make a place for the excluded…. For those who have the means to relieve suffering and oppression, idle preoccupation with prophecies of the end of time is surely a perversion of the gospel.”

Thank you for bringing this to us. We need to be mindful of what it means to follow Jesus.
